CAMPAIGN BIO
Democrat Richard A. Dollinger is a life-long resident of Monroe County. He represented most of the City of Rochester and the Towns of Greece and Brighton in the NYS Senate from 1992-2002. Rick was born with politics in his blood. His maternal grandmother was the first woman elected to the Monroe County Board of Supervisors. He is now a partner in the firm of Barrett Greisberger Dollinger Fletcher Peartree & Tallon, LLP.
In 1987, Dollinger ran for a seat on the Monroe County Legislature, where he defeated an eight-year incumbent. During the ensuing five years, Dollinger chaired the Monroe County Legislature's Planning and Economic Development Committee and the Public Safety Committee. In 1992 re was elected to the NYS Senate. Throughout his tenure in the Senate, Rick was an active leader in legislative reform issues, co-chairing the Senate Democratic Committee on Legislative Reform. He campaigned against abuses in the legislative franking privileges and fought for an accounting of Senate spending.
Dollinger has also been active in public affairs in the Monroe County community. He was a founder of the Genesee Land Trust, Inc., a not-for-profit corporation which works to preserve environmentally sensitive lands.
He is a member of the New York State Labor-Religion Coalition and member of Writers & Books. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and has served as a member of the Board of Trustees of Saint Bernard's Institute. He was a member of the Board and vice-president of the Catholic Family Center, a board member of the National Kidney Foundation of Upstate New York and the Epilepsy Association of Greater Rochester, Inc. He is a member of St. Thomas More Church.
