Year One: How Far We’ve Come

Friends,

One year ago, you elected Stephen DeVay, Beatriz LeBron, Ebony Dukes, and me to serve as leaders of the Monroe County Democratic Committee. We are humbled by the trust you have put in us to fulfill our promise to develop a stronger, more diverse and inclusive party, and wanted to bring you up to speed on some of our accomplishments over the past year as we move into the final stretch for 2021:

  • We successfully flipped two State Senate seats, one Assembly seat, and Surrogate Court in 2020.
  • We’ve hired a full-time staff to manage office operations, interns and volunteers, communications, and field efforts.
  • We established a field team to recruit and manage volunteers and lead voter registration efforts, and we’ve launched a robust internship program to support their efforts.
  • We engage in daily fundraising efforts with the help of our finance committee and consultant.
  • We’re utilizing a centralized data collection system to provide candidates and local committees with targeted canvassing and phone-banking lists.
  • We’ve established a Treasurer’s Council to advise and support treasurers for local committees and campaigns on required campaign finance reporting.
  • We’ve established committees to work alongside us on legal, finance, voting and elections, labor relations, and to update MCDC’s bylaws, which we will bring before the County Committee in a Special Meeting within the next month.
  • We regularly strategize with campaigns and officials at all levels of the ballot on targeted digital advertising and direct mail, and we’ve set up a communications office to elevate their work.
  • We continue our work building strong relationships with officials and stakeholders countywide as we grow, diversify, and unify our party.

AND we’re well on our way to taking back the Monroe County Legislature this November for the first time in 30 years! We’re confident residents will elect officials throughout the county to partner with County Executive Bello on implementing the Bring Back Monroe agenda.

Of course, you also play an important role in keeping our party strong and growing our Democratic base. We have plenty of opportunities for volunteers who want to help our candidates and campaigns throughout this final month. Can we count on you to help us with the final push through Election Day?

  • Please click here to volunteer, or call our office line at (585) 232-2410 to schedule your shift today!
  • Please click here to make a donation. Your financial support will help us continue to do the work you elected us to do as we guide MCDC in promoting hands-on participation in local government and getting Democrats elected! It has been an honor to serve in this role over the past year.

I am looking forward to another successful year together, and truly appreciate your ongoing support.

Best,
Zach King, MCDC Chairman
