Notice of Meeting to Designate 2021 Candidates

Dear Member of the Henrietta Democratic Committee,

The purpose of this letter is to notify you of the upcoming designation meeting to be held on January 14th and January 16th. The 2 day process is a little different than the usual process due to COVID-19 safety regulations. This is one of the most important obligations we have as members and representatives of our town and party! In order for this process to be valid, at least 15% of members must vote in this designation. No proxies will be permitted.

Thursday, January 14th will be a Zoom call forum at 7pm (see link on the back of this letter) in which members can hear from the candidates seeking their vote for various races in the Town of Henrietta or Monroe County. Due to the number of candidates and to respect the time of our members, candidates will be allotted 3 minutes for introductions and 1 minute to respond to a maximum of 3 questions from committee members. Any further questions committee members wish to ask or information candidates wish to convey to committee members can be done via email or phone call directly prior to the vote on January 16th.

Saturday, January 16th will serve as the day committee members can vote for who they wish to be the democratic designated candidate(s) for positions in the town or county. This will be a drive-thru style at the Henrietta Town Hall (475 Calkins Rd, Rochester, NY 14623) from 10am – 2pm. Upon arrival, members will sign-in and receive their ballot and a list of individuals seeking their designation in the races that pertain to them. Reminder: You designate for the election district you represent, not the one you live in necessarily.

A member must be nominated to chair each designation meeting our committee has. The executive team has chosen Douglas Rivers from election district 15 to chair our 2021 designation process. He will oversee the events happening on both the 14th and 16th according to the Robert’s Rules of Order and MCDC bylaws. All candidates are welcome to attend or send a representative to oversee the events happening on the 14th and 16th. The ballots will be counted after 2pm on January 16th by Nicholas Coffee, who is an outside representative of the executive council of MCDC. Results will be sent via email to members, posted on social media, and announced on our website.

The executive team thought this would be a great opportunity to help community members in need. If you are able to, please drop off any non-perishable food items when you drive-thru to vote on January 16th. All items will be donated to the Henrietta Food Cupboard (aka FISH/RHAFT). If you have any questions please reach out to David McGlashon or Alicia Manuse.
