(Rochester, NY) – The Monroe County Democratic Committee (MCDC) concluded the candidate designation process with its 2026 County Designating Convention on Saturday, February 7th, at East High School.
MCDC’s designation process allows its nearly 1,600 elected members on 30 City and Town committees to vote on the party’s endorsed candidates. The process took place over the 50 days preceding the Convention, during which all local committees held designation meetings to nominate and endorse candidates for federal, state, county, and local offices.
“Our 2026 Democratic County Designating Convention follows a historic year, when Democrats won races all across the county, flipping towns that have been held by Republicans for decades, and we’re just getting started,” said MCDC Chairman Stephen DeVay. “This past weekend, we designated candidates who are ready to work together to build a stronger NYS that can stand up to the overreaches and abuses of the federal administration.
“I am proud of the work that the Monroe County Democratic Committee has done to date and proud to stand as MCDC Chair as we endorse our candidates to send back to Washington, back to Albany, and to work right here in our own neighborhoods to make our community the best possible place for all residents to live and work. Congratulations to all and thank you to everyone willing to serve in public office and who participated in this process!”
